Get to know Michelle
Michelle qualified as a financial planner in 2005, became independent in 2013, and achieved Chartered Financial Planner status in 2018. According to recent data, fewer than 6% of independent financial advisers in the UK hold Chartered status.
Her specialist areas include retirement planning, tax planning, and later life planning. Michelle understands that, when approaching retirement, many clients worry either about running out of money later in life or leaving too much exposed to Inheritance Tax. Through retirement modelling and cash flow planning, she helps bring retirement to life for clients while providing reassurance and peace of mind for the future.
Michelle is committed to keeping up to date with legislative changes and planning opportunities to help ensure clients pay no more personal tax than necessary. She also holds a long-term care qualification and works closely with attorneys and solicitors to help manage clients’ financial plans.
Outside of work, Michelle is married with three older children and enjoys rugby, all forms of fitness, history (both fact and fiction), politics, and being dragged around the muddy Suffolk countryside by her Bernese Mountain Dog.
The Financial Conduct Authority does not regulate tax planning or Inheritance Tax planning advice.
In the spotlight
The biggest misconception about financial planning is:
Advice isn’t always black and white or simply right or wrong. Sometimes it is, but often we tailor our advice to the client’s personal preferences, so what works well for one client may not be the best option for another.
What makes a great client-adviser relationship is:
When you actually enjoy spending time together! A great relationship is built when clients feel comfortable enough to share openly about what is important to them and how they feel about the areas we are discussing.
The three small things that make my day better are:
When my boss says, “You’ve got this!”, when someone offers to make me a cuppa (I work from home), when my kids put their plates in the dishwasher.
